Donations to the Northern Lights Emmaus Community are applied to scholarships for pilgrims.

Our dear friend and sister, Deb Turner, has gone to be with the LORD. She was on the NLE board several years ago and was the registrar for many walks. She definitely practiced being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Deborah (Deb, Ducky Deb) Jean Turner age 71, of Loveland Ohio, went to walk with the Lord in the early morning of June 14, 2024, with her husband Robert (Bob) Turner by her side as she passed. Deb born to Dorothy (Dotty) Jean Reif and Robert Rex Reif October 1, 1952 in Cincinnati Ohio. Survived by her husband of 51 years Bob Turner, who she meet while working together at Mt Lookout Theater. Deb’s son Michael Turner, daughter in love Kally Turner, granddaughter, and light of her life, Pixley Jaz Turner, Siblings: Pamela (Pam); David (Dave) Frohman, Timothy (Tim); Erin Reif. Nieces “Froh Girls”: Nya; Eric, Meredith (Mimi); Almedin. Nephews: Andrew; Natalee Reif, Dillon Reif. Great Nieces:  Leia, Eden, Madison, Evelyn, Aria. Great Nephew Declan and her very loved adopted family: Masahide (Hide), Kokoro and, Yume Sakabe. Preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother Richard (Rick) Reif.

Deb earned her Masters in Education from the University of Cincinnati. Deb was a special education educator working at Redwood, Stepping Stones,  Cincinnati Public, Clermont County Schools, Afterschool Library Aid and Ohio Valley Voices, where her students encouraged her to look into Cochlear implants. Deb became the first US recipient to receive two hybrid cochlear implants and went on to become an ambassador for cochlear. Deb was also an Olympic Torch Bearer for the 1996 Atlanta Games.

Deb was known to so many for her love of the Lord and her willingness to always offer help where ever needed. She volunteered abundantly over her life: churches, scouts, American Red Cross, food rescues, care centers, TOPsoccer, just to name a few. Deb loved the theater, symphony, Crazy Horse, Bible studies, reading, traveling, (visiting all 50 states and the Promise Land) and her Canada family who will dearly miss her, as well as all her family, friends, neighbors, sisters in Christ, and traveling companions. May we all learn to love and serve a little more like Deb and remember that we will see her once more seated next to our Heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Deb’s Celebration of Life will be at Branches Church 6541 Arborcrest Rd Loveland, OH 45140 Saturday July 6, 10am, with service at 11am and a light reception to follow. Deb selflessly chose to donate her body to science and allow others an opportunity to learn. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Children’s Meeting House, where both Michael and Pixley started their educational journey’s.

Father we thank You in Jesus’ Name for the blessed memories of Deb as we look forward to seeing her again with You in Paradise. May the Peace, Love, Comfort and Assurance of Jesus Christ fill all her loved ones in a special way in Jesus.

Karen Stutrud

Karen Stutrud, 63, of Oregonia, Ohio was called home on September 17, 2019 while traveling to comfort a friend’s loss. While driving northbound on I-71 toward Columbus, a southbound truck lost control and crossed over into the northbound lanes. Karen and the driver of a northbound truck both lost their earthly lives at that instant.

Karen faithfully served the Northern Lights Emmaus Community and countless others for many years. She shared the love of Jesus in many wonderful ways with a humble servant’s heart. She is greatly loved.

Gracious and loving God, we do not have the words to speak at this moment. We are filled with many emotions at the sad news of our dear sister Karen’s passing. Thank you for our Advocate the Holy Spirit Who lifts our prayers to you when human speech fails us. Comfort Karen’s family, her church community and all those who mourn with us today. We thank you for Karen’s life and the ways in which she generously shared her gifts to further your Kingdom especially through the Emmaus community. We praise you that this is not the end of Karen’s story but a new beginning for all eternity with You in heaven. Even as we grieve, we celebrate that Karen was welcomed into Your loving arms with the words; “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
We pray all of this in the Name that is above all names Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Father we thank You in Jesus’ Name for the blessed memories of Karen as we look forward to seeing her again with You in Paradise. May the Peace, Love, Comfort and Assurance of Jesus Christ fill all the loved ones in a special way in Jesus.
